One year ago today my friend Durval Martins was brutally murdered on his way home from a night out with friends. The police have no idea who did this, they think it might have been a botched robbery or possibly a hate crime. You actually posted information about the candelight vigil they held in his memory last May, which was great. Around 100 people showed up to honor him and raise awareness about violence perpetrated against the LGBT community.

I’m hoping that every bit of publicity about his death could help towards bringing his family justice. I’ve seen how they’ve suffered and I really hope they can get some closure. (In addition to preventing others from being victimized by locking up these murderers.)”
