  • Translations anyone?

  • Can anyone tell me why the city bothers continue the fiction of a Chinatown. Once the MCI/Verizon Center moved in and real estate when though the roof it seems like most of the Chinese (or Asian at the very least) restaurants moved out.

  • The first one is “all is equal under the sky/heaven” (tiān xià wéi gōng).

The second is roughly “allow valuables to enter,” or, basically, “let wealth enter your home” (zhāo cái jìn bǎo).

Much like the rest of Chinatown, these banners are platitudes and hand-waving gestures standing in for authenticity and dynamism. But, hey, they do look cool.
