You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. Anything good happen this week?

  • We will never forget. But will we ever learn to forgive?

  • Rave: last weekend’s trip to the Gorge in WA state – saw dave matthews all 3 nights with my parents and brother. Absolutely AMAZING! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2182441&id=10503925&l=fc00a7fcef if you’re interested in seeing pics of the concert and the venue.

Rave: The beautiful life is going pro! It’s definitely a phrase I utter every once in awhile while driving/biking/walking around DC and something stands out.

Rant: this weather! I got soaked walking on base to my building. Booo.

Rant: the coast guard “exercise” this morning. I thought we were in trouble for a minute there.

  • rant: CNN making up ‘news stories’ based on things they hear on a scanner. Whatever happened to verifying news before airing ‘the sky is falling’ stories? This wasn’t breaking news, this was crappy reporting.

  • I was coming home from work on Wednesday. An old man is walking down Emerson with a pitbull off the leash. I ask the man to please put the dog back on the leash so I can walk home. No luck. The dog comes across the street at me. I immediately jump on a car. Why do people feel the need to have these type of dogs? And why do people feel the need to walk these dogs off leash? It is just an utter disregard for the peace and enjoyment of others.

  • Rave: My first week of training went well; I feel like I’m actually going to make a difference in people’s lives.

Rant: But at the expense of what physical and emotional toll?

    Rave: It’s Friday!

  • Rant: Seems sarcasm is lost on some people, and some of you take yourselves way to seriously. Since you believe everything you read, please send me $25 and I will give you the secret to eternal life.

    Rave: Lightin up there Nancy.

  • Rant: I’ve been at my new job (an unpaid internship as part of my masters) for almost 2 weeks now, I currently have 3 keyboards, a mouse and a monitor but no computer. I can’t get a computer until I get a CAC card, which I cant get unless I’m paid, but I wont be paid. Except everyone thinks I can get a CAC card so we’re going in circles trying to figure it out. I may also now owe the fbi 20 bucks.

I’m one nervous breakdown of frustration away from the loony bin

  • Rave: I’m alive.

Rant: The people killed on 9.11.2001 aren’t.

  • @clearblue – oh man I remember how difficult it was to get a CAC card, and I’m a paid civilian! Good luck!

  • Rave: I had sex with a really good friend in the bathroom at a swanky bar on 18th street last night and almost (but didn’t!) get caught. She left her underwear in the sink afterwards. No greter rush than sex in public places.

Rant: the inevitable onslaught of PoP tightwads who are gonna be all like “omg how could you show some respect people have to use that thing blah blah blah”

  • Rave: I’m engaaaaaaged!

    Rave: I quit my job!

  • Semi-Rand: Are there any bars where I can watch the NFL package in the area on Sunday? I haven’t been able to think of any that might have it and I really don’t feel like walking all the way down to Adams Morgan to get to my old bar in time for a seat. And if there aren’t, well there’s a rant for you.

  • Anon 1:38pm. How about an onslaught of thatta boys, congrats and of course ya lucky bastrd. Im happy for ya. Fun in public is always a rush.

  • Anon138 – that’s freakin awesome 🙂

  • Rave: I finally told my company that I have accepted another job offer and will be leaving and that I have no idea when.

Rave2: Surprisingly they didn’t fire me (at least not yet) but asked me if I would help start up a new team until I do leave and help transition old team.

Rant: I was some what excited about getting fired. I have been working since I was 14 and I have no idea if I will ever have the chance again to sit around for a period of time and not work.

  • @ Anon 1:38pm – Nice!

  • Rave: Humidity like this = good hair day. For me, anyway. Ha! to all my curly-haired friends who look good the other 350 days of the year!

  • Rave: Just found out we’re finally getting a puppy next week. So excited…

  • PoP, you should do a post on some of the wildest places people have had sex in the city. That would be some useful information right there!

  • @ 1:38 – Hat’s off to getting the rocks off, but you left the draws in the sink? Was that intentional? I suppose part of the rush was that someone would have to look at them later? Or the cleaning staff would have to pick them up? Seriously, couldn’t you just toss them in the trashcan?

  • Rant: Donatelli’s Design Faux Pax

I am convinced that the Donatelli bldg. above the GA/Petworth Metro is suffering from attention deficit design disorder. First, the entry screams ultra mod and at least part of the facade screams traditional. Now, they’ve put up three hideous neon lights that totally conflict with the soft light that emanates from the dormers at the top.

Where are these guys getting design advice? Seriously, have any of you noticed the mismatch character? Or, am I just trippin’?

  • I’m with Jimmy D. Having sex in the bathroom of a bar: sure, whatever, high-five. Leaving your dirty underwear behind: gross and inconsiderate.

  • Rant: I’m in my inevitable work slump lately. I need to step it up. Feeling too much like I am living only for the weekend and have this 5 day gap of apathy. Not cool.

Rave: Lots of very cool things happening in my life outside of work (which is part of the reason I have little motivation at work – cant stop thinking about those other things).

Rave 2: It’s the weekend! Screw it, I’m feeding the beast. Surprise tickets to the Ravens home opener on Sunday. Jackpot.

  • clarification: leaving the drawers behind was an accident. heat of the moment coupled with someone banging on the door really loudly.

  • I kinda like the idea of leaving the panties. Especially if they were sexy ones. It’s the “something naughty” just happened in here that makes it worth it.

  • Rant:

Folk care more about sex than design.

  • that is a kick ass photo, PoP.
