This home is located at 1608 Buchanan Street, NW:
The flier says:
“Stately, elegant and tastefully renovated four-square on a deep, lush and beautifully landscaped lot in beautiful Crestwood. Original details include hardwood floors, pocket doors, tranquil porches and verandas and window seats updated with a spacious and attractive in-law suite with a second kitchen & washer/dryer on the lower level, a renovated eat-in kitchen, and other amenities.”
You can find more info here and a virtual tour here.
I found lots of great homes in Crestwood on Monday so I thought it only fitting to put one up as the weekly Wed. House Porn GDoN. What do you think of the home itself? It’s yours for $995,000.

I lived at Lincoln and R from June 2008 to June 2009. I personally didn't have any...
It is very surprising. There hasn't been a serious crime in this portion of eckington in...
Wow. That's horrible. I cannot believe the audacity of some people. Did she not thin you...
thanks for writing citykids! great addition!
I live a block away from that corner too... and it's the one area I try to avoid passing...
It’s lovely. I don’t know about the comps in the area, but I can find no fault with the property itself. Though I wish whoever is taking these photos would discover the joys of a wide-angle lens.
Love the porches and the yard. I think the inside of the house is nice, but nothing spectacular.
At almost 20% off the 2005 purchase price, this is one of the biggest price drops I’ve seen in DC (that wasn’t a foreclosure). But presumably these sellers weren’t 1st time home buyers in 2005 and probably made a lot of money on the sale of another house.
So nice to see a “tasteful” renovation that is truly that. I hate the “spectacular” renovations that always seem to include the $20 home depot hollow doors and the weird combination of 1920′s looking sinks with brownish 8X8 tile that screams 1980s….
Also, the first thing I’d do after buying it would be to appeal the tax assessment! It’s assessed at $1.2M, but clearly as someone is going to buy it for less than a million, that’s not accurate, and the difference in taxes paid would be about $2000 a year. Does anyone have any experience appealing when your purchase price is way lower than the assessment? I’d hope that’d be an open-and-shut case to make, but I’m sure you can’t count on it with DC…
It’s a beautiful piece of real estate.
Crestwood is awesome. Every bit as nice as (almost) any west of the park single family neighborhood.
Does it come with the stately, elegant and tasteful icicle christmas lights?
Yikes, does it come with its own lawn and garden crew?
@NAB…it sure does. the owner.
Great house!
Nice place. Price is right for Crestwood.
It’s beautiful, but I’m surprised no one else has mentioned the kitchen. It’s about the only thing I didn’t like – the counters look cheap and the cabinets are just off, maybe it has to do with the weird contrast with the modern stainless steel appliances and the outdated everything else. Otherwise, I like, a lot.
A great looking house. Classic and liveable. It looks to be very well maintained too.
Really dusty outdoor furniture but otherwise nice house.
mostly i’m impressed that there is an “argyle terrace”. oh dc, i hardly know you.
I’m with U Street on the kitchen. Otherwise, I want it. I want it bad.
Same thoughts as UStreetGirl. Loved everything, then saw the kitchen and wanted to shreek. Cabinets look horrible and countertop looks cheap. Outside of that I thought the house was awsome and the price more than reasonable.
