Here’s another house that I’ve always wondered about. Wow, it’s as amazing as I had imagined. And an extra bonus is that it’s located next to the colorful “tricycle house”.

What do you think of the house? It can be yours for $1,179,000.

And for those that are interested in a more modest abode there is a pretty sweet 2 bed 1 bath condo not too far away at 1708 Newton St., NW. More info and photos on that one here. It’s going for $379,500.

  • Interesting that it is listing today for less than what it was sold for in 2005…

Wonderful house, and probably a great deal.

  • I think the condo might be a good deal. It doesn’t say how many sq ft it is, but it doesn’t look too cramped and the 2nd bedroom where the crib looks like it might actually fit a double bed as well.

As for the mansion, who knows, but I think it will definitely go for over a million.

  • Stately is the first word that comes to mind. Awesome house and priced well, but I have to point out all of the clutter. This is a sellers market and people are ridiculously picky; you have a great house in a great neighborhood, why leave all that clutter to scare potential buyers away?

  • I think its a great deal. It doesn’t have a garage but I would get over it with the second floor laundry, that is key!

  • Okay, I don’t know how I missed it but they do list the sq ft for the condo. So yeah, $474/sq ft in Mt Pleasant doesn’t sound to bad to me.

  • The house is gorgeous, and the decor is surprisingly “appropriate” for an old house, unlike the crazy Beetlejuice nonsense on Que Street from last week, or the green-stone house on 16th with the explosion of 1980s granite EVERYWHERE. Love the veranda – could sit and while away a summer afternoon…

  • Just J, I don’t see this clutter of which you speak. The house looks well-staged to me (maybe I just have lower standards). But you meant buyer’s market, right?

  • I think they are both quite nice.

That veranda is awesome. Looks like the bathrooms are a bit small and maybe the mudroom/breakfast area with the fireplace at the far end is a little odd, but I think that is being really picky. I don’t see ‘clutter’ at all in these photos. I see that the house is lived in, and not staged, but it looks like they’ve removed nearly all of the personal items without making it sterile, including the baby items, which is remarkable.

The condo looks to me to be priced very well. The listing seems to fall in line with the comps and recent sales. The bathroom layout seems a little odd, specifically the sink and toilet arrangement. But overall it looks like a good deal too.

  • The house would be worth it just for the dining room with the wooden beams and amazing floor. Plus the giant porch and the amazing backyard. Re: clutter, I instead think the house looks staged, very clean, bright, etc. The only thing that made me raise my eyebrows was the row of wine bottles on top of the kitchen cabinets. I haven’t considered a collection of alcohol I drank to be “decor” since I was about 22 years old. But whatever.

The condo also looks like it’s a good deal. I like the location, the unit seems bright with lots of windows, and the fees are not that bad for a 2BR place. So thumbs up on both!

  • the house is professionally staged but is functioning as a residence. That’s not clutter, that’s staging.

If you want to see clutter, I can show you some clutter.
