And You Thought Your BBQ Had It All…

Thanks to a reader for sending:

“Was in the Mt Vernon Safeway this afternoon, and amongst all the crap vying for attention as you walk in the door, just before the rack of red white & blue carnation arrangements (hopefully offered as an ironic jest in protest to the commercialization of Memorial Day), behold the Hamburger Cake. Yup, it’s a cake. Regular cake size and all. Complete with what look to be real sesame seeds. It can be yours for the low low price of $16.”

  • Looks like a candidate for cakewrecks!

  • Mmmm . . . sacrilicious.

  • Irony? Safeway? Now we have the Ironic Safeway?

  • There’s something kinda ‘nasty’ about this, but I can’t put my finger on it.

  • It’s a cake. Put your finger in it.

  • I don’t get the snarkiness of this post. Is Memorial Day commercialization a big problem (i.e. the carnation comment). I mean really, is it bad to take some affordable flowers to the grave of a loved one, or should everyone be able to dole out $40-$60 for something “non-commercial”. As for the cake, there’s plenty of kids that would be excited to have such a cake at what otherwise is an adults holiday, or at best a time for a family bbq, I mean really….and is $16 supposed to be expensive? That sounds like a fair price to me. Aren’t the cakes at Cakelove $80 or something? I suppose I could get 4 cupcakes for the party instead of this fun burger. Stay classy.
