Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this week?

  • Kinda bummed that with all of the violence at DC Schools, the only solution is to a) station more police at the schools, and b) complain that Rhee should not have combined schools because of the “beefs” between rival neighborhoods at the two combined schools. All the while Rhee is neglecting the schools, spending valuable time in CA working on the Sacramento mayor’s transition team.

  • I don’t understand why (some) men sitting on the bus or metro need to spread their legs so far apart as to make me sit on the edge of the seat. First, is that really necessary? Second, how can (some) men be so rude as to not make room for a woman to sit comfortably in her own seat.

  • The financial markets and economy are really bumming me out. A relative of mine just lost his job I’m worried that I’ll lose mine pretty soon. You have to wonder how this is all going to end and will we all be alright? The pundits are getting more and more negative. Is that a good sign that they’ve finally caught up with the reality of it all? Are they the lagging indicators so does that mean that maybe, just maybe we are bottoming out and the end is near? That last statement is the only thing that gives me hope right now…

I’m tired of being a solo act.
Between work, racing motorcycles and the gym who would have thought id still be single. Seems like everyone is coupled up in my area and I’m Jealous and pouting.

Now that its cold and my race season is over, I dread Fridays and the weekend. I’ve been known not to talk to anyone until I get back to work on Monday.

    Oh damn…it Friday isn’t it? 🙁

  • I’ve had it to *here* with Metrobus. I typically walk home from work in the evenings but as the nights get colder and the sun sets earlier, I’m more likely to hope the 50 buses up 14th Street to my hood in the U Street corridor. So why is it then that the 50 buses, which technically should run every 10 minutes, have regularly come at 25-30 minute intervals on weeknights lately?? I’m not talking about a 9 or 10 p.m. bus — this was at 7:30 last night. 30 minutes??? Seriously????? I could’ve walked home in that time, but when you’ve been waiting 15 minutes already you feel invested and fear you can’t leave because you just know that invisible bus is rumbling to your stop any minute now… Le sigh.

On another note, after the bus FINALLY arrived last night I stopped at the new Yes! organic market before heading home and was very pleased with the selection. Yay for a walkable grocery store in the hood!

  • Businesspeople of America: Please for the love of Satan, stop using the word “deliverable” like that. You’re driving me to mass homicide.

  • Does anyone have experience volunteering with a local organization serving meals on Thanksgiving Day? This is the first Thanksgiving that I won’t be spending with family and I was hoping to do something productive with my day off. (btw, don’t have a car so can’t deliver meals). Thanks for any tips!

  • Is anyone else planning to buy some of those Obama commerorative Smart Trip cards and selling them on eBay? I know I am! I wonder how much I can get for one.

  • Rave: Getting to leave work early! YAY

  • I fell in love this month. The head over heels, keep you awake at night, destroy the lives of everyone involved kind of love. Like in the movie Moonstruck, where Nicholas Cage says, “I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn’t know this either, but love don’t make things nice – it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren’t here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and *die*.” It’s corny, but I’ve spent weeks thinking of this scene because now I know what they were talking about.

  • My love left me to have a fling for 3months. Fu*k love. Can’t imagine why guys have commitment issues…

  • Rant: SWAMPED at work…when I finally had time to check my messages on Wednesday there were SEVENTY-SIX. And they all want to volunteer for Thanksgiving. Note for everyone: if you would like to volunteer for a major holiday (Thanksgiving, X-mas, etc), you need to call at least 2 months in advance if not more.

On the upside…tomorrow is the Help the Homeless Walkathon, and while its supposed to be COLD its also supposed to be sunny!

  • Get used to it JnDC. Marriage and monogamy is an artificial man made construct. Just as high as anonymous feels in love, she will feel just as low when she comes down. For guys, there are just TOO many women. Too many women. Feelings change. Looks change. Preferences change. You’ll get over it. And so will anonymous get over her newfound love. Then you’ll try it again.

  • Working on a major deliverable today. I get to design the CD.

After answering the FQOTD, thought that, since I’ll be right across the street, I should check out the Washington Hilton where the Reagan assassination attempt was. No, not a Reagan fan, just morbid curiosity.

  • I love the internet.

I get to listen to KROQ, read PoP, shop online, get unbelievable email and Nigerian fortune making opportunities.

    Ah! life is good.

    D*m….after reading this….
my future looking 4 luv might be a grim one…
    8 years down 40+ years to go…

  • Hey vonstallin – Your website pictures dozens of tight-dressed ladies partying with you at clubs. Maybe you should try meeting non-party girls, they tend to care about more than free drinks.

  • vonstallin, four words: dog, cat, call girls.

    All you need.

  • Interesting that nate assumes that Anonymous is a woman…don’t men fall in love?

  • Vonstallin

hmmm, no dogs for me (not much yard space) My last cat left when my Ex left, lol…hmmm call girls…. well, I guess they like to go to movies also… man that would be expensive, lol

    (Party girls in my pics)

Most of the ladies in my Myspace Page are biker girls…. While DC have a larger women to men ratio (i think 30 to 1), amoung bikers the women to men ratio is about 300 (men) to 1 (women) So the women have a super High “Turrn around rate” haa haaa.

Oh yeah, we fall in love…most times just to the wrong women 😛
I’m looking for Bonny….I need a partner in Crime!!! lol

  • I’m lonely.

  • Yeah. I’m a guy. It was a lady that left me.
