Capturing Multiple Generations

I liked the contrasts in this photo taken on 14th Street just north of P. You can see it has an old school building:


A business from the 70s or 80s:


And of course the modern condos in the background.

  • People who like to see REAL “old school” pictures of D.C. should check out The blogger there publishes photographs from the 1900s through the late 1950s or so, many of which are of Washington. The clarity and detail from these old prints is sometimes astonishing.

    For example, here is a picture of 14th and Irving Streets NW, circa 1926:

  • I actually kind of like that mix. It’s certainly a lot better than the Mexican Embassy, or whatever it is, that is that glass 70s/80s monstrosity sitting atop a couple of rowhouses on Pennsylvania Ave.
