  • At the very last possible minute. That’s how it happens here anyway.

    I cut the banana tree down around mid-November.

  • If they have been out all summer, they do have some tolerance for cooler weather. I’ve used the rule that once the temperatures dip below 50 degrees at night on a regular basis, it is best to take them in.

  • Some plants are more delicate than others, and a dip below 40 degrees is enough to do them in. A hard-and-fast rule is take them all in before the first frost, which unfortunately is often determined in hindsight. 😉
