Another Bump Out

I think this one looks a bit better than the one from yesterday. Instead of keeping a porch though they have added a deck up top. Which do you prefer? Does this one work?

  • Not for me.

  • Expensive materials used on a project hat should have never been considered or allowed to be built.

  • Seems to me if you are going to spend all that money, why on earth would you not match the brick!

  • I think it looks silly. And if I was a neighbor on either side, I’d be pissed that my porch views were obstructed.

  • I’m clearly in the minority here, but I like this one.

That said, it’s hard to tell how it changes the feel of the block overall with only one picture.

  • No, it’s depressing. The color, the heavy feel, the small dark windows…Depressing.

  • One of the things I love about DC row houses, especially in Petworth/CH is the long community affect that front porch after front porch creates. You can sit out on your front porch and wave and exchange pleasantries from afar while enjoying a tasty beverage of your choice. This pop out destroys that affect.

  • Totally does not work. The one you showed yesterday is a masterpiece in comparison.

  • Oh. God. No.

Simply awful. Why, why, why are people doing this?

Can the mayor propose legislation to make Petworth and Eckington Historic Districts immidately?
