Beautifying Lamposts

This is on the corner of 17th and Kenyon. I ran into a landscape architect, Peter Chase, who decided to plant sunflowers around the base of the lamppost. I’ll have to go back in a month or so to see how it turns out. I think it’s cool that people take the initiative to beautify public spaces.

  • I go back to a comment I submitted regarding gardens: Does anyone know how to thwart the knawing nightime outdoor cockroaches?

  • Do they really look like cockroaches? The only nocturnal pest I have problems with (in my garden!!!) are slugs but the do not look like cockroaches. They look like what crawled out of a snail shell.

  • Well, I sprayed a can of cockroach stuff (you know, one of those red spray can thingies you get in any grocery store in Petworth.. :)) into all the cracks etc. on and around our house and it seemed to slow those bastards down a little at least.
