Inspired by a friend of mine.  Why are all dry cleaners closed on Sunday?  Does that make any sense at all?  Isn’t it natural to drop off or pick up dry cleaning over the whole weekend?  Wouldn’t it make more sense if they were closed Mondays like barbers are?

  • I think it might be because drycleaners are Korean and they are big churchgoers. Drycleaners – correct me if I am wrong.

  • Good point, that Koreans are often the owners and don’t merely go to church on Sundays, but want to keep the Sabbath holy by not working. Yet many of us want to go to the cleaners. Often I’ll go to Dry Clean Direct, not really near at all, up Georgia Avenue, right before the beltway. Plus the prices are low. Yeah, I know it’s not Petworth, but I’m lived here for a while and am used to going out of the neighborhood for many things. Also, they take back hangers to be recycled.

  • Lapels on 14th Street and Crittenden is open on Sundays.
