So which do you prefer, neon house numbers or stained glass house numbers?

  • I love it!

  • I would only put up neon house numbers only if were running a brothel….

  • northpet – my same initial reaction….or a “massage” place

  • I love it too. I love contrast. A contemporary interior on a 19th century row house. And neon is so modern in a very 1960s conceptual art kind of way.

  • Off topic, but “massage” reminded me of something my old boss in Houston once said. He’s a lovable old coot who has been a defense lawyer for 40 years but still is naive as the day is long. After hearing a client’s alibi which involved the lil’ feller being at a massage parlor when a shooting (which he was wrongfully accused of) happened at 3AM, my boss turned to me after the client left and said “one thing I don’t understand ’bout this lil’ feller’s story… why would the sumbitch be gettin’ a massage at 4 in the mornin’?”

I about died laughing. Ah, the good ol’ days… shootin’s, stabbin’s, and yuks.

  • I like *that* neon house number, but I can imagine that the idea could go terribly wrong in the wrong hands 🙂

I love stained glass numbers, getting one done for my house now- can’t wait to get it back from the artist!

When you get the stained glass numbers send me a photo and I’ll post it. Thanks.

  • Anon, could you provide the contact info for the artist?

  • Definitely stained glass.

  • My house number-on-the-transom is original, and is neither stained glass nor neon. Gold stenciled on plain glass.

  • cool doors though

  • I think that whatever a person does to illuminate their address is okay as long as it’s not so bright it keeps the neighborhood awake at night with it glow. I do catering and it’s a big pain trying to find a client’s address in the dark. Admittedly, that’s not a major problem inside DC but once you hit the ‘burbs…ay! caramba!

Anon: Yes, the doors are pretty cool…

  • I like that! Mr. Princess would never sign off on it tho. He *has* agreed — thanks to your postings PoP! — to paint our house a bright interesting color with coordinating trim.

  • I think it looks pretty cool and trendy.
